At what cost?

At what cost?

Today I sit here, those few lines a constantly running in my mind from Lata Mangeshkar’s song
“Jab desh mein thi Diwali, vo khel rahe the holi
Jab hum baithe the gharon me , vo jhel rhe the goli
Jab ant samay aya toh , keh gye ki ab marte hain,
Khus rehna desh ke pyare, ab hum toh safar karte hain”

These are not just mere lines, but these are the real emotions, real truth. Recent attack in Uri, people are saying that India should attack multiple times and take the revenge, and then all of it caught me thinking. That actually for which people are these soldiers giving their life for? People who don’t even understand the value of their life. People who are not even true to their own parents, country, their values and virtues. People who fight among each other, for water of a river. People who try to show their right on the nature’s beauty and gift, and hence destroy others.
Yes, you are actually getting my point, I am talking about internal issues, and internal terrorism not the one for which others are responsible. But for the one which we are responsible. This was a visible damage, but what about the damages we make every day to each other’s emotions. The way hurt each other. Isn’t that also terrorism? May be not as big as the one killing human bodies, but killing hearts!
Once my teacher said few words about his husband who was also serving in army. When he came from two day exercise(continuous training for war) and was removing his shoes, she said to her husband “for whom are you giving yourself too much of trouble, wearing these harsh tuff shoes ,those who are aimless, those who don’t even want to do anything for their own life, those who don’t even know the efforts what their parents are putting in for making them study” and we all knew she was pointing towards us, at that point I felt ashamed, ashamed of being  youth not responsible enough.
This article is not going to be a full masala bitching about Pakistan, or telling what steps government should take towards such massacre, I think they know it better than me. But this is just for sending a message to all the youth, all the citizen of India, that minimum you can do is to be true to your country, be a human and work towards making your country, not breaking it further. My dad is also leaving for some outer mission, so this is for him, “ Daddy I know you are there fighting for our country, you know the conditions here, but still fighting because you know that even if all other siblings are going on wrong path you are the one to protect Mother India, protect your brother and sisters”.
Would again like to point to the song, when we are enjoying our life’s here, they are giving their life’s there. They don’t want us to stop enjoying but they want us to remain the “pyare bacche” of the country, at least to serve our country and value their sacrifices.
JAI HIND, JAI BHARAT.
